The past few years have been a whirlwind for us, as we've been honing our design skills and building our careers. It all started when we met three years ago, while working at a top-notch Design Build firm in San Diego. Since then, we parted ways and each gained invaluable experience in both residential and commercial design, but it's no surprise that we eventually found our way back to each other. To all who have ever known us, we've always been the perfect pair!
Now, we're excited to combine our unique talents and work together on designing dream homes for incredible clients like you. No project is too big or too small for us, and we offer a range of services including high-end full-service design, e-design, and color/material consultations for new builds. CO-FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
Welcome to Silk and Spero! My name is Macey Crowe, I am one of the co-founders and principal designers here. Since starting my studies of interior design in 2016 at San Diego State University, it has been my dream to start my own interior design studio. I have always loved interior design and the idea of making someone's dream a reality. After graduating with my Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Interior Design and a minor in Business Administration, it was my goal to continue learning about the design industry. I have worked in the interior design industry for the past three years both in the residential and commercial sectors and I have loved watching the projects I have worked on come to life. Through these experiences, I have watched my creativity prosper and have learned what it takes to execute a successful design. I cannot wait to continue doing this with designs I can truly call my own. At Silk and Spero, we truly want to design the home you have always hoped for.
Since launching my career, I have worked on many different kinds of projects. From kitchens and living rooms to commercial bars and dining rooms, I can truly say my career so far has been all-encompassing. I have managed projects from 100 square feet to 5,000 square feet and I have discovered a new element of design that I love with each one. My favorite thing to do in any project is to layer design elements. Whether it's layering fun fabrics or adding some unique vintage pieces, every element plays an integral part in the whole design and it is so exciting to see what each new project will bring.
One thing I have learned about design and about myself as a designer is that each space should truly reflect the people who inhabit it. This means that each design will be unique and different in some way. Whether it's as simple as incorporating a favorite color or as challenging as repurposing family heirlooms, each space finds a way to set itself apart from the next. I believe that designs should take hold in a space organically and feel like that is how the space should have always been. This is what I hope to achieve with Silk and Spero. CO-FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
My name is Remy and I am thrilled about the opportunity to get to know you. My passion for design began at an early age with life-long experiences in investment properties and home renovations (thanks to my wonderful parents).
I strayed from the design path in college to pursue Sports Medicine, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Texas Christian University. Go Frogs!
Within months of graduation, I felt compelled to get back to design. I pursued my creative passion by taking the drafting courses I needed to succeed in this field and gained experience with a design firm specializing in general contracting. The extra construction experience, implementing multi-layered plans from start to finish, offered unique tools that help me stand out today as a designer. My understanding and appreciation of construction allow me to work seamlessly with builders during installation and anticipate and plan for any problems that may arise in advance.
My favorite spaces to design are rooms adorned with beautiful furnishings and textiles. I love elegant home offices, grand bedrooms, and welcoming formal living rooms. I am deeply inspired by history. I love to pay homage to the past with iconic elements and motifs. My dream project would be a playful Palm Springs vacation home or traditional southern estate on the edge of Charleston, SC.
My design philosophy is to create a cohesive space that flows effortlessly and optimizes both form and function. I love coordinating exterior spaces with the interior using natural materials and taking advantage of our beautiful California weather in the form of outdoor living. Every good design should consider function and organization making your life easier.
